Welcome to "Little Harts Play Cafe"

A space where imagination, fun, and community come together! Founded in 2024 by Jessica and Garrett, our play cafe is a haven for families in Northwest Indiana. As new parents, we recognized the need for a welcoming environment where parents can relax and socialize while their little ones enjoy a safe, engaging space designed just for them.

At Little Harts Play Cafe, we cater to children aged 0-6 with thoughtfully designed play areas that promote creativity, social interaction, and physical development. Our soft play area is perfect for infants, while our imaginative play spaces and physical activities help older children build strength and confidence. We believe in the power of play to inspire and nurture young minds.

Our Offerings

Our cafe offers a delightful selection of coffees, teas, and locally sourced baked goods, making it the perfect spot for parents to unwind. We strive to create an atmosphere that is safe, clean, and creative, ensuring that every visit is a memorable experience for both children and their caregivers.

Our Name

The name "Little Harts Play Cafe" holds special meaning for us. Located on Hart Street, our play cafe is not only a nod to our location but also a play on words, evoking the idea of "heart" – the center of emotion, love, and community. We aim to inspire creativity and imaginative play for little children, making our name a perfect fit for our mission.

Our Goal

As the only play cafe in Dyer, we are committed to providing a unique and enriching experience for our community. We host birthday parties on weekends and offer a variety of regular events and activities, including arts and crafts, educational workshops, and costumed character meet and greets.

Meet the Owners

Jessica and Garrett are proud residents of Dyer, Indiana, and United States Air Force veterans. Prior to moving to Dyer in 2023, the Wood family lived in Mississippi where they concluded their military experience. Jessica is currently furthering her education while working as an nurse at the Chicago VA. Garrett holds a business degree from Indiana University and works in industrial manufacturing. Together, they bring their passion for community, family, and creativity to Little Harts Play Cafe, creating a space where all families are welcome.

As parents to our 2-year-old son, we understand the challenges of finding inclusive public spaces where both parents and children can feel comfortable and engaged. Our experience inspired us to create a space where families can enjoy simple pleasures, like grabbing a cup of coffee, without worrying about their child's safety or behavior. Little Harts Play Cafe is a testament to our commitment to inclusivity and community, ensuring that all families have a place to connect, play, and grow together.
